New! Drop-in beginner knit & crochet group classes.
Note about materials: Consider purchasing supplies for your projects from thrift stores, craft resale shops, or your friendly local yarn or fabric store. For instance, I get my crochet thread at Goodwill and have never actually bought it new!
A lovely pair of jellyfish to adorn your ears and brighten everyone's day. They are lightweight, fun, and quick to make.
Crocheted with #10 cotton crochet thread and a size 4/1.25mm hook, they are a great portable project. (But you may need to get out your reading glasses!)
Don't like tiny crochet? Make them with bigger yarn and hooks and hang a whole smack of jellies from your nearest ceiling or tree.
You should know single crochet (including increases and decreases), double crochet, magic ring, how to work in spiral rounds, and be ready for some fun construction techniques.
#10 cotton crochet thread in main color (for the bell)
Main color shown is Aunt Lydia’s Crochet Thread Classic 10 in the Pastels colorway.
The Ocean colorway in this line of crochet thread works well for this project too.
#10 cotton crochet thread in white or cream (for the tentacles)
Both earrings together weigh less than 10g, including the findings, so this uses only a very small amount of yarn.
Embroidery floss can also be used in place of crochet thread.
Size 4/1.25mm steel thread crochet hook, or size to get gauge
One pair of earring hooks
Eight jump rings
Small yarn needle
Stitch marker or safety pin
Chain nose pliers, for opening jump rings

Gauge is not critical for this project; your earrings will just be a little bit bigger or smaller than mine.
Approximately 3.75”/9.5 cm from top of bell to end of longest tentacle.
Approximately 1.5”/3.8 cm wide.
After purchase, you will receive an email from me within 2 business days with your pattern. Yes, an email from a real human! This process is not automated yet, so thanks for your patience.
